Solaris - Exr Driver - Tiled/Scanline

Good day,

In some recent render testing, I've tried to enable and disable the Exr driver parameter to ensure the EXR generated are scanline.

However, enabling and disabling both show in the exr metadata (viewing in Nuke for example) that the exr is "scanline" however getting some odd behavior.

  • Disabling "Tiled" - should be scanline but is a large file size (around 150mb) and very heavy in Nuke (feels like Tiled)
  • Enabling "Tiled" - should be "tiled" in the metadata but reads as scanline, has a smaller file size (around 40mb) and is fast in Nuke (feel like scanline)

Anyone know what could be causing this?

I so no differences visually, in metadata, with the AOV's etc. between these two renders other than filesize and read speed in Nuke.

It's also worth noting, doing a Arnold GPU render with Crytomatte removed and "Tiled" disabled yielded a small file size and fast read speed in Nuke again. (in comparison to the exact same scene and settings except with Cryptomatte added and on CPU)

All the best,

Amwilkins

There were some problems with how Arnold set the EXR metadata for multipart scanlines, that's probably what you're seeing here. This should be fixed in the next update.

Hello,

Just confirming, latest version of Arnold seems to solve this problem.

Thanks.
