Solaris - Arnold Cryptomatte AOV

Hello,

I've been trying to setup the "arnold_cryptomatte_aovs" HDA node, but not having success yet.

(using the USD kitchen scene)

Would like to know what I'm doing wrong?

I'm dropping down the "arnold_cryptomatte_aovs" node, using the same material path on the "Render Settings" node and adding "/Render/Vars/arnold_cryptomatte_aovs/*" to the "Render Product" but even though the AOV appear in the AOV list—they render completely black.

In addition to this, if I try to add by other AOV into the mix... when the "arnold_cryptomatte_aovs" node is active, it removes my other AOV from the list.

Here is everything working, as intended.

Try to add all the AOV, because the "arnold_cryptomatte_aovs" is active, the AOV break.

Bypass the "arnold_cryptomatte_aovs" and all the AOV are working again.

Trying both paths to the main AOV and the cryptomatte also doesn't work:

All the best.

Hi again,

You'll be pleased to know that I resolved the second question in this post.

I just needed to group the AOV I'm creating and the Cryptomatte into one place. By default the Arnold HDA is placing under a new $OS which was messing with it.

So currently still trying to solve why it's rendering black...

Thank you.

That's just the deprecated preview. It's always going to be black. We don't enable Preview in EXR (and actually that doesn't work with the cryptomatte_filter).

It's the AOVs like crypto_object00 that matter

Hi there Stephen,

Oh okay, I was actually wondering where the "Preview in EXR" setting was but noticed the other numerical crypto AOV showed up and the main ones didn't so assumed it likely wasn't that.

The "Preview in EXR" did make it much easier for troubleshooting to be able to check in the scene.

Thanks very much, will run some render tests and take it from there.

It works with the latest HtoA, I know that.
