Shadow Matte AOV Houdini.

Hello,
After spending a couple of hours scanning the internet for an answer on how to configure Arnold rops to render the shadow matte AOV`s and finding nopthing i Decided to come and ask here.

Can anyone help out with this ?

Hi,

As far as I know—
1) You have to create / setup the "shadow_matte" shader and plug that into the ROP "AOV Shaders".
2) After that, creating a new AOV and calling it: "shadow_matte" for example
3) Rendering and checking this new AOV, you should see your black and white mask appearing.

There are two others: "shadow_mask" & "shadow_diff" but I never really get useful info from these.

There are 02 hip files: one with default Aovs, the second one with AOV Write Rgb node
you need some hdri file
in both files you have add:
shadow_matte (from the builtin list)
shadow
shadow_mask
shadow_diff
Shadow_Matte_Aov.zip
