HtoA 6.3.3.1 not rendering (Apple Silicon)

Hello,

It appears that HtoA will not render scenes on my M2 Mac (MacOS 14.6.1). Houdini 20.5.278 is logging errors related to the license management. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

- Brian

It appears that HtoA is functioning in Solaris but gets stuck 'generating scene' in the Houdini context (using Arnold ROP).

It's same in all platforms not just Apple and it's been like that for a while now. Basically the ROP context is not functional, only Solaris can be used. Maybe try to use some older htoa version. It has been working for sure in the past.

Thanks for the info! Is Solaris-only functionality intentional or is this the result of a bug?

Hey Brian,

Can you check if there are any errors in the license manager? (Arnold >> Licensing >> License Manager)

It would also be useful to set the log file on the Arnold ROP (Arnold ROP >> Properties >> Diagnostics >> Log To File), which may provide more details on what's going wrong.

Just to clarify the ROP support - classic HtoA (the obj/rop context) is still fully supported, but I agree the error handling on the ROP is a frustrating & confusing experience right now. I've added some improvements to address this which will be in the next release.

Hey again,

I've done some testing on my end and this is indeed a bug, sorry about that (it fails to load driver_houdini because it can't find the Houdini libraries correctly).

It's logged as HTOA-2706, I'll look into it and will let you know when it's fixed

I have the same issue, Windows 11, 6.3.3.1 and H20.5.278. Same version HTOA works fine on H20.0.724.
