Dose Htoa support usd render purpose?

Dose the latest version of Htoa support usd render purpose? I try to add some different render purpose on my geometrys under solaris, seem like the render purpose don't work with Arnold.

Hi,

can you please share a simple scene to reproduce your issue?

Cheers,

Pal.

Hey, I want to second this. I was hoping this feature would be added in arnold 7 but it doesn’t seem to be there. It’s a shame because it’s a super useful feature when working in any heavy scenes.

It’s a little complicated for me to share a scene, but it’s reproducible in a simple set up with two spheres and a configure primitives LOP for each:

  • Set the purpose of one sphere to be “proxy” and the other to “render”
  • The sphere set to purpose:proxy will appear when you render the image, and the one set as purpose:render doesn’t even seem to be loaded.
  • If I remove this “render” purpose from the sphere, it appears in the render again.

I’ve also noticed the same issue in the animal logic alab dataset ( https://animallogic.com/usd-alab/ ) which has assets set up with render and proxy purposes. From what I can tell, arnold is just bringing in the proxy purpose geometry as normal render geometry, and it’s completely ignoring the render purpose geometry.

Houdini 19.0.498

HtoA 6.0.2.1

Arnold 7.0.0.2

cheers,

Mark.

Thanks for that, great news! I’ll get it updated and test it out 🙂
