Arnold very slow to free memory in delegate

We have a scene with lots of instancing and noticed that it is slow to start in the delegate (2 minutes) compared to the procedural (1 minute). We assume it's because of Hydra.

But the real problem is when we stop the render. In the delegate, it takes a full 60 seconds for Arnold to free the memory making Houdini unresponsive. In the procedural, it's very fast and takes only a few seconds.

Is that normal? We're on Windows, Houdini-20.0.547 with htoa-6.2.5.1.

Thanks!

F

I can provide the scene if you want to test with it.

No, I am no longer at Rodeo.

"We" is me and my students at NAD.

If you want to send a repro scene, we'll take a look.
