Arnold keeps crashing with error message "Bad Modules Crash"

Hello, I'm encountering an error when rendering to disk with Arnold.

I'd launch the render and for a while it'd be rendering properly, and a few frames into it, it'll error with this message:

Bad Modules Crash

SymInitialize returned error: 87

I've created a simplified scene that reproduces this error reliably on my machine.

Can someone offer an explanation on what might have gone wrong?  Maybe I clicked on something I shouldn't have?

Attaching some screen shots.

CPU: Threadripper 3970X

GPU: RTX 3090

Hey Stephen, I can start a new post for this... but I've just started assessing the latest versions of Houdini/Arnold this week. In most of my test scenes Arnold has been very unstable.

The scenes generally have some character/asset geometry, basic shader, light and textures. Arnold will crash when starting a viewport render greater than 50% of the time.
Additionally, Arnold will crash while making adjustments in IPR.

In the output console all I see is:

LLVM ERROR: IMAGE_REL_AMD64_ADDR32NB relocation requires an ordered section layout
1144:
Saving application data to C:/Users/User/AppData/Local/Temp/houdini_temp/crash.scene_v004.user_1144.hip

Not sure if that "LLVM" error means anything to you.
Hopefully after more testing I could provide more information.

thanks,
amwilkins

LLVM would be about OSL shaders (so maybe MaterialX too?)
There was a fix related to that in the latest Arnold 7.2.5.2

Okay, we'll try hop over to the latest version then.
I am using Material X shaders in these aforementioned test scenes.

Updated to Arnold: 7.2.5.2, HotA: 6.2.5.2
Unfortunately, still receive the same crashing and "LLVM" error as listed above.

Hi

Can you post a full log for the render and crash?

That LLVM error message ("relocation requires an ordered section layout") is not in the ai.dll that ships with HtoA 6.2.5.2

Thanks

For those who still are facing the same issue, just delete all htoa mtls and you wont have a problem, i had the same thing didnt even render anything i was meshing some flip stuff and i couldnt finish it... I had only 2 htoa mtls and they were not even on the sop that i was meshing, i just had the htoa mtls, so soon as i have deleted them the scene start working, so good luck to everyone
