Arnold is not showing up in Houdini 19.5.303 - Py3.7

I have Houdini 19.5.303 - Py3.7  installed as well as the Arnold version "19.5.303.py37" installed.

When I launch Houdini there isnt any Arnold tabs or nodes visible.

The console that shows that arnold is loaded doesnt open when I Launch Houdini.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

Same solution everytime...

Problems like this are almost always because the environment (PATH and HOUDINI_PATH) is not set up correctly for HtoA and Houdini.

I would check the environment with  Help > About Houdini > Show Details

If you need more help, please send your houdini.env file (or json package if that's what you're using) and the Houdini info from Show Details.

I'm having a similar problem, the shader nodes aren't visible (Arnold Material Builder, for instance), but ROPs are there.

HtoA is loaded, so this is different.

Do you double-click a hip file to load it? That sets the environment differently, and HtoA won't work.

Nope --- this is with a fresh scene. The Console doesn't load up either showing Arnold loading.

Weird. I reinstalled houdini and Arnold, and still it doesn't load Arnold.

Yes, this fixed the issue. I had to redirect the file pathing within the Houdini.env file manually to point towards the Arnold directory.

This fixed the issue and the Houdini console did load up Arnold.

Thank You.

There's a Python version mismatch.

  • Houdini is Python 3.9
  • HtoA is Python 3.7

The HtoA download with no ".py" extension is the Python 3.9 version of HtoA
