Unwanted duplicate materials - 'Delete duplicate materials' doesn't work

Hello all,

When copying/cutting and pasting objects in my scene, the materials used on those objects get duplicated in the material palette.

The now duplicated materials cant be removed by using the 'Edit > Delete duplicate materials' option, even though the duplicated materials are identical to the ones they were copied from.

My current workaround is to alt+drag the new material over the old one, merging them back into one. Not particularly problematic but I can end up with a big stack of duplicate materials quite quickly which then need merging.

Ideal fix - Materials don't duplicate when copy/pasting objects.

Next best fix - 'Delete duplicate materials' works as it should.

Does anyone else have this same issue? Any insight into this would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Calum

Hi Calum, I made a quick test in Cinema 4D 2024 and C4DtoA 4.6.5 with a standard_surface shader and copy & paste is working fine, no duplicated materials. Are you using the latest version of the plugin? Which Cinema 4D version? Node Material or the legacy material? I'm wondering if there's a specific shader in your material which is causing the issue.
