Texture error on single clone of sculpt-layered geometry

Hi

I have a suspicion that C4D ran out of sculpt memory as I had these clones set to 'Instance' when in fact 'Render Instance' would have probably been a better selection, but is it obvious from the look what this texture error on the middle skull here would be? Didn't happen in the IPR only on final render. Looks like where the subdivided wear and tear would be if it hadn't borked for whatever reason.

The other clones seem to have rendered fine, so why might just one crap out?

Also, is 16 hours on CPU for a 2160x3164 render to be 90% there...er...normal?
Nested dielectrics, lots of scattering, lots of SSS.

But sheeesh. Wish it had appeared in the IPR. Back to the drawing board.

I found this Hot Tip in the C4D documentation...probably relevant to me! 😞

  • Remember that when rendered in the Picture Viewer, the Project will require double the amount of memory (if the Project itself is open in the Viewport). Rendering to the Render Queue might be a better solution.

I found the issue : a weird Normal tag that once deleted, no problemo.

Might try to optimise the scene a bit more also lol
