Shadow AOV on GPU

Is there some special setup needed to get Shadow Matte to work on a GPU? Searching for a solution it seems that with Arnold 7 the shadow AOV was made possible using a GPU, but no matter what I try I only get black renders. Unless I turn to CPU off course.

Thanks for any help, pretty stuck on this!

There are some current limitations.

Ah, yes  - I see it mentioned as not working as an AOV. But if the Shadow matte on the gpu is described as having been introduced, and I see other users mentioning it as functioning, how would you go about getting a shadow layer pulled out from a GPU render?

Don't think you can. You can use the shadow_matte shader on GPU to get the shadow in the beauty. But if you need the shadow_matte AOV for composite, you have to render on the CPU, I'm afraid.
