Rendering Foam in C4DtoA

Hi guys,

So I made a houdini simulation of a whale jumping out of the water. I imported the sim into C4D and made a test render with C4DtoA.

Here you can see the video.

The problem is that my foam seems off, I can spot the particles too much, they are all the same size and opacity. Is there a way to tell Arnold to render the particles with an opacity based on the particles density or something like that ?

Plus, do you know if there is a way to randomize the size of the particles ? (but I'm guessing I'm off topic here, as it must be a thinking particles topic and not an arnold TP one ?)

Thank you for your help.

Francis

So the particles are imported as Thinking Particles, right? If they contain the density channel, then you can export it to Arnold and read it via a user_data shader. This documentation might help.

Arnold works with the size coming from the DCC, so randomizing is really a Thinking Particles topic. I think it should be possible via Xpresso, but I'm not an expert.

Thank you Peter. I did not achieve the result I was looking for, but some other time maybe !

you can easily randomize the size of particle by hooking up a pSize node in thinking particles to your particle group. Check out the attached image. Not sure about the density question.
