Question about Arnolds Toon shader

So I’m using Arnolds toon shader. I have it set up with six different gradients to apply a halftone image to the dark areas of the image.

It’s working on a sphere, but it seems like it’s NOT working on the shadow the sphere is casting on the ground. They both have the same shader applied. Check the picture below.

CaptureA

As you can see, the halftone on the sphere gets smaller as the shadow fades out towards the light. It does NOT do that on the ground shadow though. Any thoughts on why that might be the case? Do cast shadows behave differently from self shadows for some reason?

Thanks so much!

Are you using the Halftone OSL shader?

Can you share your shader setup?

Have you gone through Calder Moores tutorials?
