project crashing when rendering to picture viewer (and often in IPR)

c4dtoa is crashing for me constantly in C4D r25, so i've been trying to update to the latest version of Arnold and the c4dtoa plug-in. If I go to the About Arnold window from the Arnold menu in C4D, it tells me "failed to load the latest c4dtoa verison number". There is no way to download updates from here that I can find.

The autodesk site points to a mostly broken arnold renderer site to download the plug-in. When I click on the plug-in links they won't download the product and I get a Site Can't Be Reached error. How am I supposed to download the latest version of the plug-in? I am completely blocked on my current project because I can't get arnold to render without crashing.

You should be able to download the latest version of the plugin from here: https://arnoldrenderer.com/download/

Let us know if it doesn't work.

Also if you still experience crashes after updating, please let us know and give us more details on how to reproduce the issue.

hi Peter, thank you for the quick reply. that link does not work for me in either chrome or safari. I am not having any problems downloading Arnold from the autodesk site, or with any other sites. It's just arnoldrenderer.com that does not seem to be working for me at all now.

Ok, progress. It appears i am unable to get to arnoldrenderer.com if I use Google's DNS. If I switch to another DNS I can reach the page. I will let you know if the latest version solves my crashing issues.

Unfortunately updating to the latest does not solve my crash. i have attached a bug report. let me know if you need more information. This happened when I tried to render a scene to picture viewer. most of the time rendering works in IPR but i do get frequent crashes there on this project as well.

@it7Y69E Can you try arnoldrenderer.com again? We made some changes and it seems to work for us now...

Unfortunately I can not tell much from the BugReport file. The crash is specific for your scene and does not happen in a simple scene, right? Any chance you can share the scene with us?

You can also try to write out an Arnold log file and see if there's anything suspicious in there.
