Hey,

Does there need to be an update for Arnold to use the Apple M3 Ultra chip in the MacStudio? I just got one but Arnold is very laggy with it. V-Ray and Redshift are fine.

Just wondering 🙂

Laggy compared to a previous (possibly M1 or M2) mac and same arnold/c4dtoa version?

Well I've been using it on and off and a 2019 MacPro and a I9 14900KF PC.

On the Studio, what's noticeable is the viewport performance. In V-Ray and Corona, the viewport is just fine with V-Ray being the smoothest. But with Arnold the viewport is always a bit laggy even if you hold back some cores from the IPR. It was probably the same on the MacPro but I didn't notice it on the PC as I was using GPU there.

Do you have OIDN denoiser enabled in you scene? If so, can you check what if you disable or remove it?

Disabling doesn't make much difference, and this is just a scene with a cube and default dome light.

delete the denoiser imager under Render Settings>Arnold Render tab in the last section under Imagers. Your viewport will triple IPR mode speed.
