How to emit light from interior building windows

I want to emit light through windows similar to this (screenshot 2). I've tried using mesh lights but that didn't give me results I want as it doesn't feel like its emitting from inside a building but rather a surface. I've also applied atmospheric volume so I would like a glow that can be seen through it. Thanks. screenshot-2.jpgmesh-light.jpg

You need to balance the ambient light so it sits well.
I used a skydome for general light at 0.1 and 0. so very vauge.

Then use emissive 1.0 on the window material.

You need to use something like 12 diffuse samples, the default 1 will return a lot of noise.

12 might be overkill, you can get by with 6-7 and then up the camera AA and AA sample Max.
Massage these a bit to find your sweetspot.

If you need volume lightning, then use area lights in each window.

This is both the fastests way to render "anything" and it automatically prepares you for volume light, emission method will not

To emit light from interior building windows, consider implementing architectural lighting design solutions. Here's a step-by-step approach:

  1. Assess the available natural light and determine the desired effect.
  2. Install translucent materials, such as frosted glass or light-diffusing films, on the windows to soften and distribute the light.
  3. Place interior light sources strategically near the windows, such as LED strips or recessed fixtures.
  4. Use fixtures with adjustable beam angles to direct light as needed.
  5. Incorporate dimming controls to adjust the intensity based on daylight conditions.
  6. Experiment with different lighting techniques, such as backlighting or grazing, to achieve the desired ambiance.
  7. Regularly maintain and clean the windows and lighting fixtures to optimize light transmission.
By employing these architectural lighting design solutions, you can effectively emit light from interior building windows while enhancing the overall visual appeal.
