High Memory (RAM ) uses in C4DtoA

Hello,

I'm rendering about 45sec. render with 1350 frames. with 1280x720 resolution, in arnold letest version for cinema 4d.

but while rendering cinema 4d take all my Memory (RAM) and fill up full ram.

please attach screenshot for refrence.

Total Memory is : 64 GB and working at 3600 MHz.

Can this have any solution to use less RAM be cinema 4d?

Does the memory usage increase every frame? Could you please enable debug level file logging and send us the log files?

Can we have any update on this please.

Those are not Arnold log files. An Arnold log looks like this:

Sorry for the late reply, I'm away this week. As Stephen said, we'd need Arnold log files to get more detailed information about the scene and Arnold specific stats. You can enable file logging on the Diagnostics tab (see Stephen's post) and make sure the Verbosity level is set to Info or Debug.

Hello,

Here is log files for Verbosity level is set to Debug.

And Yes I think memory usage increase every frame.

Please find attachment.

Thank You!!!

Can you please try with the latest version? A similar memory leak was fixed in C4DtoA 4.6.1 / Arnold 7.2.1.0:

  • ARNOLD-13163 - CPU memory leak when rendering multiple frames on the GPU

I tryed with newer version , and found like its use lower RAM compare to last version,

but just in 276 frame it go up-to like around 22GB of RAM...I think, If we render more frame it will use more ram...

Just want to make sure is it normal for everyone?

Here is log files for Verbosity level is set to Debug.

Please find attachment.

Thank You!!!

Definitely looks like a bug, seems like there's still a memory leak somewhere. Would it be possible to send us the scene to analyze? If not, can you try rendering without the Optix denoiser? You can also try disabling textures (Ignore Textures in Render Settings > Diagnostics > Feature Overrides)

Sorry but I can't share this scene file for now (as client privacy).

But I again tryed it without the Optix denoiser and disabling textures but same result RAM use is increasing as rendering more and more frame.

It's total of around 1300 to 1400 frame animation, If I do all frame at once my Full 64GB RAM is filled with only cinema 4d.

I tested again for you and see result , Please find attachment.

Hello @peter_horvath ,

Can we have any update on this please.

Message 13 of 14

Hi, yes, sorry. I could reproduce the issue, and created defect number ARNOLD-13736, but I don't have an ETA yet when this will be fixed. It's affecting only GPU renders. For now you have to render your animation in chunks, don't think there's any other workaround.
