GPU renderer cloner on point mesh

This scene has a houdini almebic particle simulation imported as a point mesh. I then clone spheres onto mesh with a cloner.

It renders with CPU but with GPU, I get this odd 'update xxxxxxxxxx nodes' message, and it never starts to render.
I would love to be able to render it on GPU since the frame times are too long for our studio setup on the CPU.

Slow GPU node update of many instances is a know issue. Unfortunately, there's no good workaround, other than rendering on the CPU.
