I'm running Cinema 4D r17 on my 2013 Mac Pro with Big Sur. I bought Arnold and I installed C4DtoA 2.4.0.1 and Arnold Core 5.2.0.0. I can render Arnold in Cinema 4D r17 but I get a watermark. I assume I need some sort of license, and that's where I get lost. I've read through a bunch of Autodesk online material and I'm confused. If I need licensing software, do I download it and, once it's installed, have to use Terminal on my Mac to set things up, even though I'm just running a single computer? I didn't receive a licensing key of any kind. Thanks.
You don't get a license until you buy a subscription.
If you buy a single-user subscription from the online store, there's no actual license file. You just sign on with your Autodesk ID.
In the case of a very old C4DtoA, like C4DtoA 2.4.0.1, you have to request a previous version license. See Question 13 in this article
Can I access previous versions of Arnold with single-user subscription?
Yes. Single-user subscription does support previous versions of Arnold using RLM licensing. To request previous RLM version access, send a request to arnold.licensing@autodesk.com with the address of your computer and your Autodesk account sign-in information. For more information on previous version eligibility, visit the Autodesk Knowledge Network.
If you buy a multi-user (network) license from a reseller, then you get a license file and you have to install the Autodesk Network License Manager.
Hi Stephen, I'm still experiencing the same issue, which is, everything in the C4DtoA dropdown menu works, allowing me to using Arnold lights and materials and the like, but when I attempt to render I still get the Arnold watermark. When you say "sign on with your Autodesk ID," where is it I'm signing in? Robert
Thanks so much for the reply, Rico. I tried opening the ArnoldLicenseManager.app on my Mac and got this message: "ArnoldLicenseManager.app" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash."
So I deleted the file and reinstalled the program, but I received the same message when I attempted to open it.
I'm not sure if it helps at all, but at one point Kasper from Installation & Licensing had me install the Autodesk Single Sign On Component, and Stephen emailed me a license file, which per his instructions I placed in the Arnold bin within the Maxon Cinema 4D application.
Despite this, Arnold still renders with a watermark. I'm running C4DtoA 2.4.0.1 and Arnold Core 5.2.0.0 according to the plugins dropdown menu for C4DtoA within Cinema 4D r17.
