when rendering a scene with a mesh light and atmosphere i am getting these little white spots...

the color is driven from a material...

i saw that there was a ticket for this issue a year or more ago...

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/arnold-for-3ds-max/arnold-mesh-light-and-atmospherevolume-gives-firef...

wondering if there is a fix or if this is still a known issue

also, after giving it more time to render... it creates a strange pattern

Did you try this?:

Mesh lights are more prone to noise. You are best off using a point light in a situation like this.

You could also try increasing the number of atmosphere_volume samples, mesh_light samples, and camera(aa) samples.

You only have 1 mesh_light sample. How many atmosphere_volume samples do you have? If that doesn't work there is clamping and denoising.

when i increase the samples the overall noise gets better but the fireflies get worse

Can you explain more about how clamping can help?

The render resolution (2k), Camera (AA): 10, and atmosphere_volume samples: 64 are all too high. I rebuilt the scene using a point light and got something that renders in a few seconds without any noise. Let me know if you have any questions.

> especially the color.

You can change that easily in my scene.

We are aware of the issue, but cannot promise anything in the near future.
