Animating Noise

>Is keyframing the time parameter the best way to animate noise?

Yes

>Is the time parameter unit in seconds?

I don't believe so. From the docs:

"The pattern of noise smoothly varies over time."

>Is there a way to drive the time parameter based on the current frame?

Keyframe it like any other attribute.

What is the effect that you are trying to achieve?

I was trying to understand the Arnold noise vs native C4D noise.

The docs for c4dtoa's noise says: "Input time coordinate of the 4D fractal noise function" for the time parameter.

Native C4D noise has 'animation speed' to modify the evolution of the noise. Since Arnold's noise must be keyframed I was wondering what values are reasonable considering the docs don't give much insight. Did some tests and keyframing 0-1 over 1 second produces a slow evolution — sort of what I would expect if the unit was seconds. Anyhow, think I was just thrown by it being called time (as opposed to speed, etc).

Hi,

Did you ever find out a way to animate the noise in c4dtoA? I see a time parameter in there and I was trying to link a ramp float of some sort in there. But it didn't work.

Thanks
Joao Monteiro
