Script Editor in endless loop after assigning simple shader

Maya2023 | MacOS | Arnold Renderer

My Script Editor is in an endless loop with: // Warning: WARNING | found NaN/inf in aiNormalMap23.out.VECTOR when shading object /shaderBallGeom1shaderBallGeomShape1

After trying to assign a simple Shader Material to a Sweep Mesh. I never had this happen before, and I've had relative success with the Arnold Shader, ßso I have no idea what is going on. The Error remains even after disabling the shader ball. Hope someone can help. Thanks.

Update. Even though I hate doing this, renaming the preferences folder and restarting ended the problem.
