Arnold GPU with Volume

Does GPU support vdb file rendering yet? I have a VDB animation that I generated with Phoenix FD Version 4 that isnt showing up on the render. Using an Arnold Volume Shader as well. Smoke_phx channel used for Grids on the volume setup and also in the channels in the volume shader.

VDB on the GPU has been working for over a year afaIcr.

Maybe you need to export the channel data in a different way.
But you can source the channel directly on the closure and test if they are stored, if they are stored you should be able to call any channel stored in the vdb from any string input field.

Once you import the VDB, a small popup window will open, giving you an option to sign the velocity channel and general channels to import. If this window does not open when you load a VDB it means that the data is stored in a non generic way eg ( this works fine from houdini to max ) - So might be the exporter that is broken.

Great, I did get the popup window and assigned the correct channels but no go for render unfortunately. Not sure whats wrong right now. Im going to download the infamous Cloud Data Set from Disney and test.

Should return something like this on the GPU.

Just link it in again from some location.

Thanks, I was able to import the cloud file and render it by using density channel of course but theres something about my vdb files Im generating that doesnt carry over. I even tried this niche tutorial for Max/ Arnold to no success. I swear Im going to convert to FumeFx or Houdini next. Ive had nothing but problems with Phoenix FD.

Hi,

Did you try the test scene I uploaded in the zip?
Try get that going first, then see if there is anything in it you have missed.

How? Process? I have read VDBs from bifrost graph editor, but I keep getting an error that gpu is unable to recognize multi resolution volume. Can’t find anything online to guide process on how to render VDB with Arnold GPU when using bifrost graph to read volume..
