Arnold content crashing.

Hello, all.

I'm getting an inconsistent but constant crash with Arnold.  This crash is happening across multiple systems so giving you CPU, RAM, etc. is kinda useless.

Where can I go to get an analysis of my crash data?  I have an education license so Autodesk treats me like a leper when I find problems.

   All I have is you.

THANKS!

If it's on Windows, you can post here the CER report numbers and we can see if there's anything interesting in these crashes.

Thats great! Thank you! Not sure what a CER is.

I was given a report ID. Is that the same thing?

Yes, that's the CER report ID. Looks like this might be a bug in the arnold core 7.3.5.0/maxtoa 5.7.6.0. So far there's only a few people reporting this, which makes me think there is something special that you must do in order to trigger this (something in your scene, sequence of commands?).

You could try downgrading to maxtoa 5.7.5.0 until this is fixed or you/we find a workaround for whatever it is that triggers this. I tagged this internally as MAXTOA-1899. Look for that in the release notes to see if it's been fixed.

Your attention is deeply appreciated.  Please let me know how I can be of help in assisting the hunting of the bug.

FYI I'm also getting application errors/crashes during rendering on 5.7.6.0. I'll try downgrading to 5.7.5.0 and report back.

Well, after reverting to 5.7.5.0 I'm not crashing during render anymore. I've only done about 6 seconds of anim but previously, 3ds Max wold crash almost every 10 to 15 frames. I'm GPU rendering on a 4090 with the Oidn denoiser if it helps. Latest NVIDIA studio drivers.

Hi there. I'd be happy to provide this in about 2 weeks when the job is done. I really can't risk switching up to 5.7.6.0 right now. I can say that I've done about 2 minutes of rending now with 5.7.5.0 and no crashes during render.

I just want to chime in and say i also have this issue. Random but constant crashes. Maxtoa 5.7.6.0. 3Ds max 2025.3, latest Nvidia drivers.
I can render some 5-10 frames and then it crashes. GPU rendering on RTX 4090. Looking forward to a fix.
And just as a site note - i notice "Isolate selected" doesn´t work at all. Atleast when rendering on the GPU.

Thx Kyka_Studios. FYI, almost done my current job with over 4000 frames rendered on 5.7.5.0 and stable as can be. We are running similar specs it seems, so maybe reverting would be a good temporary fix for you too.

Sometimes, in this situation, I begin with a clean slate and start a brand new project. Then import/merge all essential objects/cameras/lights/etc from the crashing into the new project thus distancing myself from the "corrupted"  Arnold project that's constantly crashing. It's an annoying "Just re-install Windows!" hail Mary but works about 30% of the time.

I´ve been stuck today trying to render a project, and doing exactly what you mentioned. Doing all the usual import/merge workarounds etc. Then i stubled upon this post and finaly it dawns on me, seeing this thread, that its Arnold and not my files somethings wrong with.. Spent SOO much time troubleshooting 😩
I just tried going back to 5.7.5.0 and that worked like a charm. No issues. Phew!
