Any help for getting Arnold to run on Linux?

Hey there,

We currently have 25 licenses of Arnold, and are rendering happily with 3ds Max, but on Windows Server Boxes.

We now want to see if we can use our HPC Linux boxes to help us render, but I'm struggling to find any info on this anywhere.

My question is:

- I'm guessing I'll need to write a backburner batch file to run 'kick' which will run 'ass' files in Backburner, but has anyone done this and got an example script I could 'borrow'? 🙂

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

T

@Tim Laird I love Linux (mint). just an Idea maybe setup cron jobs on linux box to look at single network render script to render into one folder. Set max or Arnold to skip rendered files if possible so as not to over write frames that are being rendered....as for details on how to get this done. I'll have to research more.

Thanks for your post. I'm not a Linux user, so won't be setting up the Linux side of things unfortunately, that'll be down to our Linux peeps.

I'm just trying to set up Kick to render an Ass file and it worked (in Windows) but resolution and even the render was totally wrong. Exposure, camera location, etc was very different to the 3dsMax scene.

I'm guessing these things are not stored in the Ass file, so it would be a case of redoing in post?

Trying to scour the interwebs for more info on rendering with ass files and there's not a huge amount of stuff about.
