streamer crashes on program startup

I'm not sure what is happening.  I went to open 360 and got a "Streamer.Exe" quit working.error and the prog just shut down.  Didn't even get to the first screen.  Was going to delete and re-install in case there was a glitch on my hard drive, but win10 won't even let me do that.  I am totally dead in the water as I can't even get the option of doing a new install overwrite.

I have a few questions:

 

  • Did you have Fusion 360 running previously, or was this the dfirst time starting after install?
  • Did you just try to reinstall without deleting? (You mentioned that you don't have the option to do a new install to overwrite - I'd like to understand where the problem lies.)
  • Did you try to remove Fusion 360 using Programs and Features in Win 10? If so, could you describe what happened that Windows prevented you from uninstalling?

Ideally, we do want to uninstall and reinstall and I'd recommend machine restarts after un- and install just to be sure that there is nothing else interfering.

 

I'll do my best to troubleshoot if you could post those answers, please.

I have been using 360 on this laptop for nearly 1 1/2 years without a problem.  It worked 3 days ago perfectly. But then yesterday it it wouldn't even get to the logo screen before I got the streamer.exe quit working error.  I attempted to delete the software using both the windows system and with IObit Advanced system care 9.  Both almost immediately come up with the streamer.exe error and fail to delete the software.

I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling using windows, Iobit and CCcleaner unsuccessfully. Also tried renaming with no luck. I still get "Streamer.exe quit working"

HI @smokehouse850,

 

I'm sorry to hear that this is happening! I know you are probably getting sick and tired of trying to uninstall/reinstall the software, but with Fusion 360 we actually have a clean unisntall procedure that wipes all installation/update files from your computer manually. Realistically since you said you have been using the software for 1.5 years without a launch issue, my guess is something might have happened during an update and it was not updated correctly - just a guess however. By cleanly uninstalling it will give us a fresh slate to start from and we can continue troubleshooting from there if that doesn't work. Make sure to follow all the possible steps you can and please note that the folder paths are by default hidden so you will have to enable hidden folders in order to navigate to those paths. Also, it may tell you to delete some folders/files that do not exist on your computer. That is okay, just delete the ones you can (you still should be able to delete most of the ones it tells you to). Then, before redownloading Fusion 360, make sure that in your Task Manager or Activity Monitor that streamer.exe is NOT a running process. If it is make sure to kill it.

 

If the clean uninstall/reinstall does not work I will have to take a peek at your log file to take a deeper look into what is going on. You can use the following guide to locate your installation log file:

Thank You. The "Hard Delete" and fresh install worked like a charm. I was concerned that I would lose all my drawings, but they all returned when 360 booted. You guys are GREAT!!!
