"Shade Mode" looks like 90's > Implement a state of the art real time render engine in 2023!

The "Shade Mode" is outdated, materials are not of any use to match a realistic impression. I still have to tweak around Blinn, Phong, Lambert..really? This is the Alias interface from 15 years ago.

> I recommend to implement a state of the art real time render engine for 2023 release with easy accessible material assets.

In a benchmark, Alias is far behind market standards e.g. Rhino, Blender, pls. see my comparison attached.

A designer will first have to import a model into VRED to judge a design. This is the current work around in car design. This is not an efficient workflow for quick reviews.

Looking forward to see cutting edge technology for this price tag, thanks!

I agree absolutely, its not as if Autodesk dosen't have plenty of other software that shades well, and as you say even Blender looks better and why is there still an 20 year old Scan line Raytrace Raycast module ( that dosnt actually show textures correctly) - and while you are at it how about updating the clunky and obselete animation module - the VRed one shows what can be done.....

i came into the forum looking to make a similar point.

I find it really frustrating being told by a designer that the model looks flat or similar, this is often because there is no shadows or modern render engine to realistically display the materials and final look of the product.

I would use vred but our company doesn't want to spend the money on it, instead we have to use Blender, I don't really want to spend the time transferring all the data to another software, just to get decent realtime shading.

Alot of my colleagues are moving over to blender for sketch modelling and basic visualization, alias really needs to step up and improve alias and or make vred design significantly cheaper (included for free with autostudio).

I would also like this shading to be fairly idiot proof, i am good modeller but i don't want to be defined by poor presentation. Realistically i don't have the time to put into a library of my own, so a decent library of shaders and environments would also be essential.

I would be happy to discuss this further.

Yes. An integrated live renderer utilizing physically based rendering (perhaps a new shading model?) would ease the workflow in practically every visualization and concept use case.

Yes, such top - notch surfacing tools combined with excellent real - time rendering are extremely attractive.
