Alias  Autostudio 2026.1 (fully compliant setup, RTX 6000 ADA, Win 11 Pro, huge ram, fast CPU) is difficult to get work done quickly.  I have to wait for any command to initiate.  I have deleted all preerences, ZERO interface changes, no hotkeys, etc.  Multi Surface Draft interface window opens and is not interactive for 30-40 seconds or more.  I think the stages have to be empty and often reboot just to get work done.

I have the latest.  The problem improved after with low res text and no aliasing, no transparency on windows... but it is still way too slow, gets slower after using Alias for a while.

ANYBODY,

Is there a recent version of Alias AutoStudio that has a reasonably quick interface?  Or is there a Windows version that allows AutoStudio to work at a reasonable speed?

Thx.

I found a solution using Claude.ai.  All menus are now fast... no delays.

Boot to BIOS and turn off VBS: disable SVM and IOMMU

Five VBS services were a significant drag on a workstation running OpenGL CAD apps.

from Claud.ai

"Windows Update may try to re-enable VBS. After major Windows updates, check msinfo32 again to make sure it hasn't come back. With SVM and IOMMU disabled in BIOS it shouldn't be able to, but worth verifying.

When you want VMs back (Docker, WSL2, etc.), you can re-enable SVM and IOMMU in BIOS but keep VBS disabled through the registry entries we set earlier. That should give you virtualization without the security overhead.

If you notice any remaining sluggishness as you keep working, we still have the NVIDIA OpenGL settings and Wacom driver to look at. But hopefully this got you where you need to be. Enjoy the faster Alias."

I also needed to set Graphics settings for the Alias app to be dedicated to the RTX ADA 6000 card.  But that was done first and I still had the agregious delays.

Excellent!

Very useful information to store because it is not easy to remember.

Thank you for sharing it.

Worse issue... I had to remove Adobe CC... to speed things up, and still have the issue... I think I have located the culprit... Autodesk.

Summary of what we found today:

  • (AdskIdentityManager) was spinning at 800+ CPU trying to reach ls!autodesk!com — a legacy license server your identity-based Alias license doesn't actually need
  • FileSystemMonitor(.)WindowsService (Autodesk Desktop Connector) and 3DxVirtualLCD (3Dconnexion) were piling on
  • Every time Alias opened a dialog it waited on AdskIdentityManager for a license token, hit the spinning process, and stalled
  • ProcMon ironically suppressed the behavior by competing for system resources — which is why the stalls stopped when you opened it

Still working on it.

I know Alias is faster than this.

also... Alias runs great if... I kill AdskIdentityManager, Desktop Connector FSM, and 3DxVirtualLCD before launch.

AutoDesk AutoStudio Slows to a stop often .. STILL

I have to run scripts to stop the process that eats all 128 cpus.  Alias support simply sees this post and says...

"Glad its all Fixed"

I have to kill AdskIdentityManager to get info window or any other interface to respond to a click.
