Surface/mesh orientation and curvature shader

Why when displaying curvature evaluation mode on, surfaces and meshes are rendered with reverse curvature ?

The curvature shader shows convexity on the surface and concaveness on the mesh. Orientation (normals) of both surfaces and mesh are identical. I have attached a few screenshots to illustrate my question.

We have been able to reproduce the problem in 2025, 2024.x, 2023.x, 2019.  We are trying to figure out why the behaviour happens (expected) or is it a bug.

 

You can fix the issue by selecting the reversed curvature via selecting Palette > Mesh > Reverse Mesh Orientation.

Hi @i.serov thanks for bringing this up.
I don't know why the curvature is displayed in the reverse direction on the mesh. It looks like an issue to me.
I created a ticket for our Developer for investigation ALS-28450.
