Learn and master Alias

Hi guy,

first off a little background on me... Been working as a plumber for the last 15 years and I'm now at a point in my life where I'm looking to learn and master something different for a change, possibly even a full career change (who knows)!

3D is something that has always caught my interest and it's something that could really help me push some of my personal projects to the next level, especially my car related projects. So I've made up my mind a little while ago to get into it and learn 3D. Reading on the internet, the first issue I encountered was sorting out which software would be best for my end goals. Early on, some people pointed me toward poly modeling softwares like 3DS Max, so I gave 3DS Max a try, surfaced like 3/4 of an Audi R8. It came out fairly nice, but even as a complete newb I just knew poly modeling was not gonna cut it. I felt there was just no way to build 100% smooth and perfect surfaces.

Went back to the research stage, digged some more and found out that "nurbs modeling" was the answer and the software I needed was Alias. Obviously, I ended up installing Alias. found out about the autodesk foundation tutorials and got through them, then looked on the web for more tutorials and lessons, but I could hardly find anything that seemed decent or worth my time...

So finally here's the reason I'm making this thread. Could anyone please point me toward good educational material/sources? I'd LOVE to take classes, I did call a couple local uni and tech schools but none offered anything related to Alias. Couldn't find much online neither...  I REALLY want to become highly proficient at surfacing cars and other cool stuff with Alias, however at the time being I'm struggling, like I understand the concept and how tools are intended to work but some things are still missing. Of course, I understand it takes countless hours to master this craft but I would like to learn to use the tools the good way and to their maximum and not waste time doing stuff the wrong way, as well as developing bad habits/workflow.

Sorry for the wall of text, looking forward to hearing back from you guys, thank you!

Also here's a pic of my very first creation using Alias...
