How to delete P after using skin tool?

Menu Bar -> Delete -> Delete Locators

That function has always existed on my computers. 

Can you check that you are in Long Menus mode?  Menu Bar -> Preferences -> Menus -> Long Menus

Your license may also be restricting that function, although...not sure why.

You can also just turn OFF the Continuity Checks in the Skin tool and they will not be created in the first place.
