Hello

Is it possible to make a Hotkey for Export/Active As option with specific settings in the dialog box (IGES, mm etc.)

Hi,

actually, it should be possible to move any kind of "File" > "Export" > "File" / "File" > "Save As" operation to your Shelf. Please try the following steps (discussing "Save As"):

  1. Use "File" > "Save As" (with options) to open the options dialog for the Save As tool
  2. In this dialog, choose the target file format (like IGES) in the field "File Formats", as well as your wanted options (like "Output Units" := MILLIMETERS)
  3. Once you are done with setting the file format specific options, push the Cancel button.
  4. (Optional) Check that the options recently set are still the actually used options by repeating steps 1. and 2. This time there should be nothing to adjust (as all the parameters are remained as you set it before). Push Cancel again.
  5. Open your target shelf.
  6. Open "File" sub menu and leave it open. Next, you want to Drag&Drop sub menu entry "Save As" to your shelf by pushing the Middle Mouse Button (MMB) and keeping it pushed, while you drag the menu item into your shelf. Release the MMB while your mouse is over your shelf.
  7. Once you are done, using your new shelf entry (by clicking on it using LMB) immediately opens a file chooser dialog to specify the name of the output file. The Save As operation will use IGES (in our example) as target file format (as you can tell by used "Save as type" value), along with all the other options you have chosen before.

The Drag&Drop operation in step 6. might be a bit tricky, specifically if you are using a mouse with Mouse Wheel. You may not want to let pass too much time in between your MMB mouse-down and your mouse move (as otherwise the mouse-down will be interpreted as single mouse click, and will open the Save As tool directly).

Please let me know if these steps are working for you.
