Hotkey a 5 Button Mouse

 Just got a 5 button mouse. Would like to Hotkey the two additional buttons. Has anyone had success with hotkeying a mouse? I assume I will need to know the name of the buttons in order to assign them.

I am afraid it won’t work, at the least didn’t work for me.

I recently had a problem with my MMB and as the mouse was quite expensive (Cyborg RAT 7) I tried to swap the faulty button by another button which was unused. So, not luck, as when I created a new Shelf (New Button) and assign the shortcuts to it, the mouse condition remained the same.
