Hello,

maybe someone can help. I am working on a 4K 28 inch monitor. The scaling is way off for a bunch of stuff when working with this monitor in alias.

1) The labels of the surface continuity tool (I.e. P/T/C) dont scale properly. With scaling in windows below 200% they are way too small. With scaling at 200% they are too large. The scaling within alias with the new 4.1 version has no effect on the lettering of the surface continuity tool, so that doesnt help either.

2) The edges/CVS dont scale properly, you have to change draw style to somehow make it work (i.e. thicker lines etc).

3)  The curvature combs become really thin, ghost like making them harder to see.

I am comparing this to an hd resolution on 27 inch.

I think Alias needs to make sure that the scaling also applies to the locators, so that you can work properly at the higher resolution. I think especially problematic is the 27/28 inch 4K monitor situation, as the PPI is very high on those monitors.

Thanks.

Just to make it clear: If everything looks perfectly sized with the settings I chose at the 1080p resolution, it should scale perfectly to the 4k resolution without chaging draw style. But it doesnt. Everything is off. The edges are too thin, the vertices are too small, the continuity tool letters (P/T/C) are tiny. The quills on the curvature combs are ghost like. And the scaling within alias has zero effect.

What use is the text scaling introduced in 4.1 if it has no effect on the above. And draw style is not even a good workaround for the edges as the thickest setting is too thick and the one below too thin.... Maybe I am missing something and being unfair but with 4k resolution quickly becoming the new normal/standard, this seems like a big issue.

Hi there, much appreciate your feedback! In order to help you better, I've a few questions:
1) You've stated you encountered these issues in 2024.1. In what other versions of Alias have you also seen these issues?
2) As this seems like a graphical issue, what video card and driver are you using?
3) If possible, can you please attach an image or video of the issue as well your preference file? Getting a visual here would be very helpful!

Regards,

Alex
