canvas image scaling problem

I imported an image by file>import>canvas. I can scale it using the left mouse button and middle mouse button, but when I try to scale it with the right mouse button, nothing happens. what should I do?

You're correct, you can't scale the height of the object with the RMB.

You can transform the canvas layer with the Palette > Paint Edit > Transform Layer tool:

You can also change the size of the canvas in the information window:

If you hold alt and click on a numeric field it turns into a microslider which allows you to scale the canvas interactively.
