Weld Preps on Curved Plate Edges please….

Hi again😉,

I  would like to add a weld prep all the way around the curved edge of a plate.

When I add the weld preparation (Bevel Cut) to the straight edges it works perfectly, however when I add it to the curved edge it will not allow me to make the cut.

This is something we intend to do quite a lot, so an easy workflow to getting this done correctly would be very helpful.

I have used the Spline/ Decurve option, but this way seems too time consuming when you have hundreds of plates.🙁

Is it possible to make a cut like this in Advance Steel?

This would make a fantastic future enhancement!

Curved plates need a lot of work in general. The modification tools are lacking when it comes to bent/twisted plates. Additionally, the development/flattening is woeful and pretty much unusable (dxf's don't come out with smooth edges)...

I know the argument will be "these are not common", but anyone working with them (ie bridge girders) will know the pain.

Hi everyone I totally agree ! At the time the weld prepartion was developed, I constantly discussed it inside the team but due to deadlines it was postponed for the next version ( that was a couple of years ago ) . In that next version the devs realized the bevels at beams flange web roundings but not for plates. Still hoping to have it in one of the next-next versions. As the fabrication possibilities are availible to perform bevel cuts on rounded plates and the nc files are capable of this I cannot understand why this is not rewalized until now in the modelling part. @iwafb: the bent / twisted plates are something more special. During dev ( might have been 2010/11) we decided to have them not dynamically because of calculation resources ( and as always deadlines). I agree that this could be updated now.

This would be very useful. We bevel round plates all the time. We have to manualy trace the place, bevel it then hide the AS plate. This is absurd. This is one of our most common errors right now. People forget to do it.
