Stair Macro - Plate Stringers

Stair Macro - Plate Stringers

It would be useful within the stair macro to have the option to create stringers from plate not just flatbars. If the top / bottom landings could also be plates that had the option to be merged it would be fantastic. See attached photo.

As with detailers, each fabricator will work in different methods, some like ordering flatbars, drilling and cutting then fully welding, with the advantage of being able to produce DXF files a lot of fabricators now want to get stringers cut from plate to avoid any fabrication issues and expensive welding

Can you edit the flats at all?

I agree that plates should be included. I recently had a problem trying to alter the shape of the flats. I was treating them like plate, but if you use the advance steel tool palette and use the functions that are for beam editing you'll find they work on these flats . Maybe it won't solve everything but you won't have to explode the stair.

We can alter the flats, the issue at the moment is that our clients want to profile the stringers from plates, so depending on the size of the stair there will be a lot of work to use the macro, explode the stair, then re-draw the stringers as plates, then re-attached any plates / bolts.

I like this for the simple fact that I have a plasma that scribes. scribing the tread layout saves much time!

Another thing I tried was to use the flats in the macro and then merge the flats and it was successful.

I whole-heartedly support this.
