Simplified Geometry Option for Joist Assemblies Needed for Reference Modeling

Simplified Geometry Option for Joist Assemblies Needed for Reference Modeling

Hi Group,

Advance needs a lightweight option for the joist assemblies or just a joist dummy macro with lightweight representations of joists for reference modeling and GA drawings.

Tekla SDS2 have this feature. There are many times when you need to model joists for reference or GA drawing presentation and the current joist macro creates way too much geometry in the model especially when you are dealing with larger buildings.  More refined modeling of rtu frames and any mech equip framing can benefit from having simplified joist reference models.

See the attached picture of the current achievable simplification state of joists in a model. This example has way too much geometry and for anything but a small job will bog the 3d performance down and also create unnecessary numbering.

I know that there are different ways to manually create, explode etc joist models but what we need is an efficient macro to generate simplified joists for reference.

Vote for this please.

Regards

Craig

Yes.
This is correct, it would help a lot when modeling the joists, you have to do some tricks to achieve this

I agree, that we need a Generic Joist to not show every panel point.  It's hard to send and IFC file with joist with geometry like that because people will think that's how they are going to be made and start checking to see if their pipes will run through them.
