Shear Studs. Dialog box and detail drawing labels.
- When inserting a shear stud the dialog box should be similar to the anchor, with predetermined lengths from the database rather that a nominated lengths. (when you insert a shear stud at the wrong length it is not recognised by the software properly and just displays a rod). {Refer anchor dialog box, it has a pull down menu to select the type and the length}
- Shear stud labelling. The label for shear studs on detail drawings does not allow the “Partname” from the Shear stud database as a token. The “Partname” is the manufactures product code for the shear stud, similar to anchors but this cannot be referenced at all. This means that we have to adjust the labels manually every time to add the “Partname” and quantity, which is then lost in a drawing update.
- Shear stud labelling. The labels for shear studs do not allow for a Quantity token similar to bolt groups or anchors groups. This means that we have to adjust the labels manually every time to add the “Partname” and quantity, which is then lost in a drawing update.
- Shear stud “Partname” in the BOM list on detail drawing sheets. This cannot be referenced into the BOM lists.
In summary the shear studs should be setup similar to anchor bolts rather than normal bolts with predetermined lengths and tokens for “Partname” and “Quantity” in the labels and BOM lists. The only real difference between Anchors and Shear studs is there are generally no holes requirements for the shear studs and they are welded to an assembly.
