Quick Search Dialog

Hi Devs,

We desperately need a "Quick search" dialog faster than the model browser.

Searchable parameters: MP, SP, Preliminary Number, Name, Length and Thickness, Material and user attributes, for beams, plates, and gratings; for Bolts-diameter, length, finish and type.

...you don't mention the "Search and Mark Objects tool":

Sure it could be improved in places:

• search standalone parts
• search polybeams
• ability to have search "steps" (to process different sets of search parameters)
• easier selection of multiple properties (e.g. material) by typing them with a certain separator rather than having to scroll through a huge list

...but it does all the things you ask for in your post??

Hi Dave,

I am using the tool above, but it is not fast, it is frustrating sow.

I have pre-defined filters and they are ready in the dwt files.

I have tens of filters ready such as MP, MP Beams, MP Plates, SP Beams, SP Plates, Base Plates, Cap Plates, Shear Plates, Clip angles, etc, bolts also per diameter, and site or shop, but if I have to find a certain part mark it is a few steps procedure, very slow compared to the rest of the speed.

A simple dialog similar to Find in AutoCAD will be far better and faster.

At least as a minimum:

Search lets say plate "1PL1", type in the quick search dialog and plate to be highlighted, and "search marked objects" activated.

Model browser is a browser as the name suggests, and it is not as fast as we want to be.
