predefine mark order

predefine mark order

Advance Steel Development team

I would like to see a command that allows me to select a series of columns in a certain order which would then translate to the mark order when the marking is run. This way I could have the column mark numbers in an ordered arrangement which I think is also more proffesional.

Yes we find this as problem also.   Currently the number system is random for columns and purlins and there is no process to number element in a sensible order.  It makes it particularly difficult when sending steel to site and managing erection.  ie install purlin P010 then find P087 then P247.

It also makes it hard for find parts on the marking plans when the numbers are not in a logical order.  It like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Fully agree.

Detailing using processes picks-up random beams and columns, not in order. Ending-up using dwg styles instead of dwg processes.

Also-ABOM- (Preliminary lists)-Preliminary numbering has to be done by size, not randomly assigned numbers.

Giving an ABOM sorted per preliminary number and per size is a must, but in order to achieve it, we have to select each size and run the numbering.

I agree the numbering order for single part and assemblies should have option to sort the numbering by Length and or section sizes, or by selection.
