Option / Command to create automatically punch marks for attached parts

Option / Command to create automatically punch marks for attached parts

Hi,

The feature request is to have a command or option to automatically generate punch marks for attached parts on an element.
As example, to generate punch marks for a stiffener, to mark contour or significant points of the stiffener onto the beam flanges and web surface.
Similar to scribing in the NC file, but in the 3D model.
Further, the punch marks could be shown in the detail drawings, and they will be included in the NC / DXF files.

Thank you,

Emy

Especially true for stair nosing locations. It would be very useful for stairs that are not shipped assembled.

Don't let the installer guess where the nosing is. Nosings are the main reference points for stairs. They define the rise and run of stairs.

Thanks @Emanuel.Nestor  for great idea :lächelndes_Gesicht_mit_lächelnden_Augen:

Has the option for punch marks for stair nosings been implemented yet? I can add punch marks manually, but they are located at the top of the stringer, not along the nosing line.

Thanks @Emanuel.Nestor and @markhubrich for bringing these "points" up!

Hey @mddcliffcole87 is this what you're looking for?  Although the answer is no, everything has a workaround.

Thanks, @markhubrich! What a great work-around! It's true, there usually is a way to do something - I just didn't think of this way.

I set my UCS to align with the axis of the stringer, placed a punch mark at the bottom nosing, then used Advance Copy to copy nine times up the stringer using the point-to-point method to determine the distance. Unfortunately, since Advance Steel converts everything from metric to Imperial, the points gradually got off more and more as they progressed up the stringer. I drug each one into place and am good with it. This was faster than placing the punch marks one at a time.

Try the Rectangular,2 Points method. The icon to the left of the place by center one.

This allows you to keep them all grouped so later on when field dimensions change your stair, all you need to do is pull the grips to realign. Keeping them together also makes for a cleaner detail without every single hole being marked.
