In MT we have the following defaults for the behaviour of dimensions:
"Don't Erase any manual dimension point"
"Erase All invalid manual dimension points"
"Erase all invalid points no longer on object lines"
...with the last one being arguably the most useful.
Often on GA drawings you may need to dimension to an Autocad line/block rather than an AS object in order to dimension steel off a wall or something similar.
In this case you will either lose the dimension point on update or you will need to explode it, or use the above option "Don't Erase any manual dimension point" for everything.
...so this brings me to my idea.
In the dimension dialog for any AS dimension on a drawing, have a new checkbox option:
"Don't Erase any manual dimension point"
This should behave exactly as per the MT default but ONLY for the dimension object you apply this setting to.
This would give us the best of both worlds.
Many users ask for "locking" of dimensions and this could solve that as well if a multi edit is possible to assign the setting to all selected dimensions.
... or perhaps have an extra function to apply this setting to the whole drawing.
All this functionality already exists in some form (i.e. the current MT default options) and just needs to be isolated to certain dimension objects rather than globally, so surely it would not take too much time to implement it?
