More Concrete Tools

More Concrete Tools

We use AS for Design drawings at our company. Therefore we have to model and detail the foundations in AS. I understand this software is geared toward Steel fabrication drawings, BUT adding some basic concrete tools would make this software more universal. I think many other engineering companies would start using AS for design drawings if these things were considered.

REINFORCING- when modeling a footing or slab  (or any concrete item) there should be an option in the dialog box that has reinforcing. The concrete items in AS have very little "intelligence". They are basically just a 3D solid.

Not showing reinforcing in the model makes is especially hard when cutting foundation sections/details. I have to cut my foundation sections/details and draw the reinforcing in 2D.

MORE CONCRETE OPTIONS- AS has very little concrete options (slab turn down edge, piles, pile caps)

A lot of our foundations have to be modeled with basic 3D solids.

even when we can use the AS concrete to show the foundations, there are not always tools to make them "look" the way we want. Another HUGE issue is the AS tools that allow you to cut, miter, trim, join, etc for the steel do not  always work for the concrete items.

In general, I want "intelligent" concrete components (with editing tools that work) and reinforcing (just like Revit)

I really think this software could be marketed as a Design software (just liket Revit) if concrete was considered.

I am in strong agreement.  Please give us edge processing at the very least.  A lot of exposed concrete edges are chamfered, and we need to show it that way in our drawings.  I know it's Advance STEEL, but we interface with concrete all the time.  I always end up having to make 3D solids and making special parts out of them which is not ideal.

And yes, it would be great if some of the concrete reinforcement from Advance Concrete would make an appearance as well.  Pointing us to Revit for concrete reinforcement is not a good solution when our model otherwise exists entirely in Advance Steel.
