material list without numbering

material list without numbering

Hello everyone,

it would be useful in the beginning of the project to have the possibility to create a material list without having to number the model.

numbering may be appear far in the modeling, and just before makeing drawings.

not in the begining of modelisation.

my workaround is to save my model, save as another name, make my numbering, tae the list and after delete the model with numbering

It can be pissibly a source of error.

thanks

I do not see any need for this.

...and each item would need to be listed on a separate line without first identifying any equal parts (numbering).

If you need output at any stage of modelling, just number the model - it takes seconds.

...and you can delete the numbering and re-number once you are ready to create your first batch of shop drawings so you don't have any gaps in the numbering etc.

...and  you could create a BOM template without showing the part numbers if that is what you want for early stages.

...or you could do a preliminary numbering only, with the prelim numbers even being retained for future tracking if  you wish and make a list using the preliminary numbers.

So many possibilities already available.

There really is no need to be making copies of the model.

Hello,

I do like AntDrt because I put the prefixes early and when I delete the numbering either deletes the prefixes or keeps links causing problems sometimes.

I think it would be a useful function.

...so as suggested, just run the preliminary numbering and not the single part or assembly numbering and make a list based on preliminary numbers.

Hello drawtech,

obviously i know i can delete numbering after an numbering,

but the main i want to avoid is when we number the model, a main part of an assembly is created and can be confusing for modeling further.

and delete the numbering, doesn't delete this status of "main part" only numbers (or i don't know how to delete)

And after that the list doesn't work with preliminary numbers. i've got my graitec support and tried with them.

But can you tell me how to set up my list to work with prelimlinary number (didn't found in the report content) cause i've set this token in my list but desn't seems to work. (threw MP to avoid make giant gomment list)

Thanks.

how do you make list based on preliminary numbers.?

@AntDrt

Ah yes sorry, I see a prelim list will only work if the main numbering is also done - I normally just number everything so had not noticed this before.

Perhaps this is something the Development team can address?

...as for the main part of the assembly, you could try experimenting with the default under Numbering>General>Biggest part of an assembly will become the main part (the actual name may vary with the country version installed)

If this is ticked, the heaviest piece will always become the main part, which mostly is what you would want anyway - only occasionally do I manually set the main part.  Would this overcome your issue with the incorrect main part after further modelling?

@Anonymous

Copy an existing template and use the Preliminary Part Mark token rather than the single or main part mark

I forgot to mention, there is also the default Numbering>General>Assign the preliminary number "only to main parts", which you may or may not want ticked.
