Dear development team,

Please include slotted holes as an option for manual labels.

Hi,

there is an option to create slotted hole information within the manual label system,  i am not sure if you are aware of this.    try to show below:

select the manual label tool,  then select the "C" to change, this accesses the manager,  then go to holes,  then use the drop down list under the labels,  you should see several types already in place.

you can create new labels,  by copying an existing one and adding to the list , then selecting it, it should then become the current one.

to do this select the sample to start from and then the copy button at top left,  give it a new name, then apply it,  the dialog will reset, go back to it in the list and re-select it,  then it can be edited with tokens added in combination with plain text elements.

hope this helps.

very good request by dimitrov,

We have also asked for this with autodesk

and they should definitely add this one.

John,

I believe Dimitrov is asking about label for hole and slot randomly for example if we have to label a slot just after the of label of hole. Then

your proposed method will not work.

check again at your end and see my screencast video where i am following your proposed steps but not getting

the desire result.

if i want to label the field bolt and shop bolt with different style then there is no option in label designer to do this

so if they go to improve the label designer then this one also should be fix.

Ok, so at present , being this is a manual applied label, if you wish to detail a slightly different object , as holes and slots are the same primary object , you have to manually change the actual label content from the drop down list using the "c" for change. Not sure there is any other way than to have the different types of contents.

You can select edit contents afterwards , multi labels at once.

Looking behind the labelling within the standard style provided, this does have a label type set for holes in the beams and also element for slotted holes etc , but this is read in conjunction with the management tool settings that control the detailing of hidden objects, these are not set/checked, so with that the drawing produced will not display the holes in the beam , as they are hidden by the cleat and bolt. (That would be my best assumption )

I think the criteria would have been the holes and slots could be shown, dimensioned and labelled in a part drawing , so not as critical to label in the assembly.

Well that is the way I would approach it if we detailed here, you prep the beam via drill saw line process and then add the other parts during the fabrication process, so two steps to produce the final beam.

Hope this helps

Hi John,

Just though I'd chime in with regards to your comment as to the importance of labelling these in the assembly drawing. I agree that in fabrication terms, the part drawing would contain this information and therefore the assembly is not as critical. However, there are processes that need to take place prior to fabrication. One of these being approval. The part drawings are not sent as part of the approval set (std practice, at least here in Australia), therefore this type of information must be shown in the assembly drawing...

Cheers,

Dart
