Lock the Graphical Representation State of an Object?

Lock the Graphical Representation State of an Object?

Hi,

I use joist models in many of my projects for a graphical representation when doing ga drawings ... sections etc.

As many of you know the joist macro creates some very heavy geometry for the modeling space.

It would be great to be able to lock the Graphical Representation State of an assembly or objects in advance.

I have created many custom view macros in the tool bar that rely on "All visible" command as a starter to set the objects in the modeling

space to a standard representation and then let the custom xml entry in my tool bar do the chosen filtering for that macro.

When you have many joists (or any other heavy advance geometry) in the model the time it takes to reset all of the joist geometry along with the rest of the model geometry can be

an unwanted delay in productivity.

If we can lock the representation state of an object then the filters would by pass that geometry and get to the intended focus for the filter.

Another option would be to have a simplified joist geometry in the model that would persist when filters are used until you change it to another state of detail.

Craig

Update.

As a workaround for keeping AST objects in a locked state of their current graphical representation I have found that if you lock the layer that they are located in the objects will not change their representation state.  This will work for now.

It would be nice if AST had simplified joist objects like Tekla.   Tekla's large model perfomance is really amazing.

Craig
