Linear Sloped Dimension Improvements

Linear Sloped Dimension Improvements

Hello,

Per attached screen pic, it will be very helpful if we have the sloped dimension snapping similar to AutoCAD-this is an example when distance between two sloped parallel lines has to be shown.

Currently we create a helper line along lines, rotate at 90 degrees and execute the sloped dimension in Advance.

In other words we do not have any lines around to be able to show direction for sloped dimension, we have to create one and rotate.

If sloped dimension works same as in AutoCAD it will save time, and a few extra steps.

Regards,

Status changed to: Future Consideration

Thank you for this idea. I agree that this could help reduce time. However one challenge for this behavior is a dimension that is going through a clipped area.

We may take it in consideration for a future release.

This issue is easy to solve, just align the ucs to the slope, then use linear dimension tool.

Not sure I understand your issue.

To create such dimensions, I just use athe AS Linear Sloped dimension.  Snap to one of the lines and then use a perp snap on the other to set dimension direction, then just pick your dim points.

Drawtech,

Perpendicular snap does not work with lines in Advance,

Exploded lines (autocad lines)-yes, but not generated from Advance.

At least in my installation.

Hi

I can use a perp snap on AS object no problem.

Please see video from link below:

Hi Dave,

Thank you for the video.

No, it does not work with lines being part of Advance Steel detail.

I do not know what the difference between your installation or set up and mine.
