DXF Hard Stamp Multi Line Location

DXF Hard Stamp Multi Line Location

When we produce a dxf file, it would be useful to have a part name for a hard stamp on the part, along with a line of text underneath the part, describing it - the thickness material etc.

Currently we have to choose between the two.

I have attached 3 pictures.

Where there is one line of text, this occurs when there is a negative figure in the "Management Tools  > Defaults > Structured BOM/NC > DStV NC&DXF > NC hard stamp - Position in Y". However to achieve this the "NC hard stamp - Use auto placement needs to be unticked.

The multi-line output where both lines are on the part is achieved with a positive value in the Y position and the %NEWLINE token is used, except auto placement must be ticked - this is undesirable as the text can be lost or removed by the system if the part smaller than the text.

The desired outcome is where there is "0000-00-PL1" on the part, with the informative text below the part. This would mean that we would only have to edit dxf files to remove the outer hole on countersink holes (a very different problem).

you could set the startpoint in the management tool and then use the %NEWLINE in the NC Setting. I tested it and I'm not sure why, but the "first line" had to be after the "second line"...I thought this was not bit different in the past :grinsendes_Gesicht_mit_großen_Augen:

Hi Sebastian,

To achieve this, do you have the auto placement ticked in your management tools?

As mentioned, this is undesirable because when the text is bigger than the part, the text is lost completely.

I created an article in the past, so this is possible by creating a dwg, and then export to DXF:

Sebastian,

Thank you for your response, although i'm not sure this would be useful.

That would be a very lengthy process when producing 100's/1000's plates with individual dxf's required. I don't believe that the walk through necessary provides what we are looking for? But i may be wrong

ETheuring,

I didn't realize that they were generated from temporary NC files.

While that might be the reason for the limited functionality, is seems odd that it can put part numbers on for the etching of attached parts (when producing dxf files based on assembly number) but that it would struggle to produce one extra part number for the plate itself.

I believe, every laser cutter will need an identifying code per part, otherwise they will be left with a mass of plates that aren't all for the same company.

from my experience with advance steel, as long as the 'auto-placement' stays un-ticked, the part can be as small as it needs to be and the long text remains.

This could be done with a good Detailstyle and a process, so it should be done in minutes for 1000 plates. But you had to create Detailstyle and specific labeling, but this is a one time job to do. After this it could be done in minutes
