Command 'Hide detailed parts'

Command 'Hide detailed parts'

It would be a time saver if there was command 'hide detailed parts' available.

Yes, I know there is model browser where we can see what was detailed and what was not,

and there is an option to select parts / assemblies with identical numbers,

but please-take a moment and look how time consuming this can be on a 1000+ different parts project.

One way is an option to automatically hide the already detailed parts after placing them on drawing,

probably more doable will be a command 'hide detailed parts'.

Hello,

It will be a great time saver if every detailed part on main part becomes hidden after it is placed on a drawing.

Currently when using dwg styles for detailing, we detail a part, look for parts with same part number, hide them, and move to the next part (or MP)

It will be great if all parts with same number disappear after they are placed on a dwg.

Hopefully this can be implemented.

Thank you and have a great day.

if you use the modelbrowser, you could display the drawingnumber, so if you detail a part, it's easy to select them with the modelbrowser and then dissapear them. Why don't you use processes?

Hello,

There is even faster way than the using the model browser, by selecting identical SP or MP and hide them, but this is what is called a few extra steps to make, and it slows the detailing.

It will be very helpful if SP or MP get hidden after they are placed on a dwg.

I agree with ilko on this option, this will be very useful and i will remind the developers about model browser in ASD (autocad structural detailng) .... for me this was the best way do keep track with all detaild joints drawings etc...

How time consuming it may be:

Scenario:

980 SP selected and shown only  SP, start detailing them, Select SP with identical numbers that were detailed to hide them,

....After 150 SP were placed on dwgs for some reason we have to show the entire model due to a model change, renumber, and again-select all SP that were not detailed form the model browser.

One new command will come very handy.

Hi Ilko,

Just curious on your work flow...

I use MT default "Allow duplicate workshop drawings" = NOT checked.

Run a drawing process for parts or assemblies etc on a selected LOT or on the whole model etc and any missing drawings are created, while those that already exist are not duplicated.

...so I do not find any need to know which items are detailed and which are not, since this method always makes sure all details have been created.

Sorry if I'm stating what you already know and misunderstanding what you are trying to achieve 🙂

@Drawtech

I almost do not use processes due to customers' requirements about prefixes, drawing series, drawing sizes etc.

Processes are the fastest way, but in my case-do not work.

"Allow duplicate workshop drawings" = NOT checked---no, it is not checked.

Try to use drawings styles only for 900-1000 parts and you will see how time consuming this can be.

Hello,

It would be very nice if we had a new category in the Advance Toolpalette referencing what is detailed and what is not detailed yet.

Scenario-project with 4,000-5,000 beams and plates.

Detailing if not done using processes, it takes time to select / hide detailed parts.

I would kindly propose the following included in the Detailing Category:

1. Hide detailed SP beams      1a. Isolate detailed SP beams

2. Hide detailed SP plates       2a. Isolate detailed SP plates

3. Hide detailed MP Beams     3a. Isolate detailed MP Beams

4. Hide detailed MP Plates      4a. Isolate detailed MP Plates

Just to add-it can be a Ribbon Panel, it does not matter...

just we need these commands implemented in Advance Steel.

Have a great day.

And to add more functionality:

1. Hide detailed SP beams      1a. Isolate detailed SP beams     1b. Isolate SP Beam NOT detailed

2. Hide detailed SP plates       2a. Isolate detailed SP plates      2b. Isolate SP Plates NOT detailed

3. Hide detailed MP Beams     3a. Isolate detailed MP Beams    3b. Isolate MP Beams NOT detailed

4. Hide detailed MP Plates      4a. Isolate detailed MP Plates     4b. Isolate  MP Plates NOT detailed

How good would that be??!!

Management of drawings is definitely lacking functionality. Not in test scenarios with limited assemblies, but in proper jobs with, as you mentioned, thousands of drawings.

Combining these tools with added functionality in the document manager (all we would need is a "show only displayed" button similar to the model browser) and our life's would be so much easier!

Tekla has had that functionality for years...

This is good idea nad very usefull... Toolpalette from Autodesk Structural Detailng (ASD) was very good in menaging the detailed single parts and assembly, also ProSteel have nice manager...

Also i'm not so sure if autodesk have interest in developing AS on AutoCAD... i think they will transfer all steel detailing in Revit.

@ZHUKOV_ING,

I have the same feeling despite what they say in general

@iwafb,

No, I did not see this in Tekla.

Hey Ilko,

I did digress somewhat...

Not sure about the filters you are looking for. I was referring to the switch to only consider parts displayed in the model for processing of files. I'm sure Tekla has this functionality.

At least, that's what I've been told...

Cheers,

@iwafb

This is what I am looking for, simple, yet Very very helpful

1. Hide detailed SP beams      1a. Isolate detailed SP beams     1b. Isolate SP Beam NOT detailed

2. Hide detailed SP plates       2a. Isolate detailed SP plates      2b. Isolate SP Plates NOT detailed

3. Hide detailed MP Beams     3a. Isolate detailed MP Beams    3b. Isolate MP Beams NOT detailed

4. Hide detailed MP Plates      4a. Isolate detailed MP Plates     4b. Isolate  MP Plates NOT detailed

I know, that the following steps are not what you want, but maybe help a little bit.
You could try the following steps to get result:

  • open the modelbrowser and add the columns for drawing number and 2 additional maybe userattribute 1 and 2
  • I think you have a special naming for detail drawings, so you could easily see if a part is detailled as SP or MP
  • my idea: for detailed as SP input for example "SP" in the userattribute 1 for MP use "MP" in userattribute 2
  • no you could save a few search filters for example: "search all beams with userattribute1 =SP" and then the second one "search all beams with userattribute1 not =SP"
  • the same searchfilters could be easy use for MP

Now you see your saved filtersearch in the projectexplorer and you could switch the light on and off them.

But nevertheless, your idea is great...but then I have to many buttons (in my opinion)...what could be a better way is, to have the opportunity to search for the information if a part is detailled or not. So everyone could decide if he save such a filter or not.
The main problem is, that we could not use the filter search for detail drawings (but the information is there 😃

@Sebastian_Eiche,

Very often, sometimes 40-60 times a day for a large size project, we need to hide at once all SP already detailed, or all MP already detailed.

Hopefully this will get enough support to be implemented, at least two commands- Hide SP and Hide MP already detailed.

Thank you for your vote.

@Gernot.Jeromin

This is the place where the Hide Detailed Parts command was introduced, Graitec STOLE IT.

Please add this command, or a similar-Select Detailed MP and Select Detailed SP in the As2020 Hotfix.

We will make custom commands Hide or Isolate Detailed MP and SP.

Thank you,
